Chloe AW2001 by Stella McCartney “Betty” Cowichan Cardigan Sweater
Prior to Pheobe Philo’s appointment at the house, Stella McCartney, at age 25, took the helm of the Chloe brand as the youngest ever creative director of the French Atelier. In 1997 she began her career fresh out of Central Saint Martens. Although her audience had doubts of her experience and skill level, being the young daughter of Beetle’s Star, Paul McCartney, she deemed to be a good fit for the Label, bringing menswear elements into her soft and natural ready to wear collections.
In her Autumn / Winter 2001 collection, McCartney implemented an array of farm-animal and wild-life motifs mixed in with pearl embellishments and tonal embroideries.
