Comme Des Garçons SS2000 Geoblins Tapestry Patchwork Trousers
“Gobelin” collection of Comme Des Garçons Homme Plus was designated to honor the long-lasting Parisian tapestry producer from the 1600’s. Rei Kawakubo procured floral-based tapestry fabrics for her collection, just as French Royalty would for their bespoke goods in the 17th Century. Her fabrics were cut into memos and hand stitched onto a trouser silhouette base. Each garment produced in this fashion, commanded hours of work by Rei’s talented seamstresses.
This pair of patchwork trousers is part of a limited quantity one of one garments that were produced for Spring / Summer 2000 Homme Plus. The runway garments were not widely available upon the collection’s release and were reserved for special orders placed by customers. This fact has made these bottoms increasingly difficult to come by over the last two decades.
