Helmut Lang SS1998 Slash-Pocket Denim Jacket
Helmut Lang SS1998 Slash-Pocket Sanded Denim Jacket
Helmut Lang compromised a significant portion of the attention drawn to the fashion scene in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. The minimalism in his jeans line was attractive to the industry that was so heavily eccentric at the time. Mr. Lang designed for the end wearer. It is no surprised that he tried his hand replicating a variety of classic workwear garments. Twenty years later, his craftsmanship has proved to stand the test of time.
This denim jacket originates from a classic 557 Levi’s trucker jacket without the distractions. Lang removed the slanted seams and reinvented the pockets to be discrete seams on the heavyweight denim surface. The straight fit extends beyond the traditional denim jacket cut, by the addition of a longer bottom panel that features a built in coin pocket as an effortless utilitarian touch.
