Helmut Lang SS1999 White Bondage Trousers
Helmut Lang’s Spring / Summer 1999 collection did not stray far away from the Austrian-born designer’s minimalistic tendencies. The addition of both functional and futile straps to the garments, deemed to be a differentiating factor that separates this collection from the rest. Outwear pieces were equipped with built-in harnesses meant for carrying the jacket the way one might carry a backpack. A good portion of the bottoms that were presented, featured elastic bands behind the knee that could be flipped to the front side of the trousers for aesthetic appeal
This particular pair of pants nods at the Lang philosophy of portraying common pieces with minute details. A white cotton twill is lightly brushed in order to create a soft and smooth finish on the trousers. The right leg features a large strap that wraps around the knee and fastens with two velcro applications. Hidden underneath this asymmetric entity, is a three-dimensional boxed detail that raises from the knee. Towards the waist, dual loops are incorporated for the user to hang the trousers. Additionally, the waist can be adjusted by means of straps on either side.
Marked size 46 (please refer to measurements):
Waist: 38cm
