Hussein Chalayan SS2002 Reconstructed Vest
Chalayan’s collections are concluded as “minimal in look, but maximal in thought.” He believed that clothing, like vehicles and buildings, were externalizations and were meant to be shaped and catered towards the human body that inhabits it. This ideology most likely stems from the Cyprus born fashion designer’s developed passion for architecture.
In an interview Chalayan described his mission: “Every-thing around us either relates to the body or to the environment," Chalayan explained. "I think of modular systems where clothes are like small parts of an interior, the interiors are part of architecture, which is then a part of an urban environment. I think of fluid space where they are all a part of each other, just in different scales and proportions.”
This lightweight black vest features reconstructed panelling, pleats, and thin straps with button closures.
Marked size 40 (please refer to measurements):
Shoulder: 15in
Chest: 17in
