Maison Martin Margiela AW2004 Artisanal Reconstructed Aviator Leather Jacket
Maison Martin Margiela AW2004 Artisanal Reconstructed Aviator Leather Jacket
Martin Margiela’s artisanal line was conceptualized in the year of 1988 as a means of recycling vintage garments and giving them a new life through reconstruction. These new creations are intended to be worn in a different way or introduced to a new environment when compared to its original purpose. From minute adjustments to complete deconstruction, this venture exists as Margiela’s most experimental line and continues to set an industry example of repurposed fashion.
This outerwear piece is composed of two green leather aviator jackets from the World War II era. These jackets are cut and reconstructed in order to achieve an asymmetric appearance. Distressing and fading of the painted leather is apparent throughout.
