Deanna Ferretti Veroni is a master of her craft with an elite attention to detail when understanding the intricacies of the knitwear genius. She who began in a garage studio in Italy in the 1960’s, has now consolidated a knitwear power with a long resume of prestigious collaborations. A rather productive relationship was sustained with designer, Martin Margiela, from 1999 until the Autumn / Winter Collection of 2003. Under Margiela’s creative guidance, Ferretti Veroni as instructed to make a sweater that showed traces of long-term wear “as if someone’s grandmother had worn it hundreds of times; as if someone had found it years later in some attic.” The utilization of automotive factory industrial equipment allowed Miss Deanna to successfully heat specific portions of a knit sweater in order to achieve the desired “worn” look as requested by Margiela. Given the extensive process the sweaters ensued, only 1000 garments were made in the 4 year span.

This long cardigan is composed of a deep red wool, of which is 10% alpaca. A knitted collar and ribbed hems are examples of Ferretti Veroni’s expertise. The knit sweater is completed with polished buttons that extend from top to bottom.
