Number (N)ine SS2003 “Touch Me I’m Sick” Crying Hearts Patchwork Sneakers
Named after Mudhoney's 1998 debut single, SS/AW2003 “Touch Me I'm Sick” fuses Takahiro Miyashita’s love for garments and grunge music. Taking immense inspiration from Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain, Miyashita uses heavily distressed knits, ripped patchwork jeans, leopard prints, and mohair cardigans pulled straight from Cobain’s closet, as well as longing song lyrics from famed grunge bands of the past. The shaggy, unkempt models further reflect this emphasis on grunge as they shamble down the runway all to the tune of Primal Scream, and The Smashing Pumpkins.
These all black high-top sneakers feature leather, canvas, and suede heart and tear cutouts that are pieced together to fill the shoes’ upper.
