Undercover SS1998 “Wet Summer” Gear Knit Sweater
The Japanese designer, Jun Takahashi, began a label that portrays climates of chaos, beauty, decay, and rebirth among many others. He started his “Undercover” venture while still studying at the Bunka Institute of Fashion in Tokyo. Beginning in 1989 he unveiled his enchanting wit via 200+ photographs of collections that prompted viewer’s imaginations to run free. Although many critics try to fit Jun in “punk culture” category, he has found innumerable ways to prove his versatility in the art of “strangeness.”
This camel-colored top features a grey, gear knit pattern on the front and the back of the garment. Unfinished hems and a ribbed collar are also apparent on this piece. Small marks of fading and discoloration are subtly scattered, which is a commonalty of garments twenty years and older.
