During his time at school he stayed with various indigenous tribes and immersed himself in the culture and heritage of the people. He collected moccasins and other artifacts while practiced a utilitarian way of life. At the time that American Workwear started to gain popularity in Japan, Hiroki honed in on his ability to craft his own take on classic durable items such as Red Wing boots and Vintage Levi’s Jeans. The byproduct of his cultural dive into native lifestyle, his design experience at Burton Snowboards, and a desire to make his ideas tangible, is a luxury workwear brand by the name of “Visvim.” Although the name has no particular meaning, it paints a friendly picture into the minds of consumers and fans when heard. A community has been created of people with an appreciation of future vintage products. Hiroki Nakamura creates things that are meant to vintage in the future and outlast the wearer by way of tried and true design and impeccable craftsmanship.
